The Ultimate Guide to Summer 2021 in Rehoboth Beach during COVID-19
May 3rd, 2021
Everything you’ll need to know when traveling to Rehoboth Beach this summer.
Located in the heart of southern Delaware, Rehoboth Beach is a beautiful town that will surely provide you with a once-in-a-lifetime experience! It offers incredible sandy shores, opportunities to take pleasure in outdoor activities, and time to truly appreciate simple joys that make it one of East Coast’s most favorable family-friendly (and dog-friendly!) beach destinations.
At the Nation’s Summer Capital, you can enjoy it all while staying safe, practicing social distancing, and following health protocols!
Visit the Beach
What better way to visit beautiful Rehoboth Beach this summer than to indulge in the ultimate beach day! Take the day to enjoy the stunning water and sands, where you can park your beach chair and relax, or take a dip in the ocean!
Included in your stay at Canalside Inn, you have access to complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas that you can take to the beach. If you want to take a deeper dive into the water, book a fun water activity like kayaking, paddleboarding, or jet-skiing.
Cape Henlopen State Park, north of Rehoboth Beach features premier hiking and biking exploration, incredible sand dunes, a designated swimming beach, Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse, World War II Observation Tower, and a 3.2-mile-long Gordon Pond Trail with access to the Borrow a Bike Program. Make sure to bring your camera to capture awesome scenery, and wildlife throughout your adventure!
Dogs on the Beach
We love to spend time and spoil all of the cute furry friends who come to Canalside Inn and Rehoboth Beach couldn’t be a better place for quality R&R with your pup!
Dogs are prohibited on Rehoboth beach from May 1st to September 30th, but don’t you worry! In Dewey Beach, dogs are allowed on the beach year-round with a special license and are permitted before 9:30 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m. from May 15 to September 15. Dogs can be off-leash during the off-season, but they must be under your supervision and cleaned up after.
Here at Canalside Inn, not only do we offer an outdoor shower for you and your pooch to use if you need a quick rinse from the sand, but we provide a dog-walking adventure package! We understand you don’t want to be tied to the room to take care of your pet during your whole trip, so this one-of-a-kind service is designed to let you take extended time away from the hotel with the security of knowing your pet is being cared for!
Walk the Boardwalk
You can’t come to Rehoboth without walking the boardwalk! This mile-long boardwalk features wonderful shops, boutiques, small galleries, souvenir shops, restaurants, and entertainment areas. Taste some of the most iconic local foods such as Grotto’s Pizza, Thrasher’s French Fries, and delicious Nic-o-bolis from Nicola Pizza!
Channel your inner child by visiting Funland, which sets on opening May 8th, 2021. This fun amusement center comprises an assortment of rides and games that will allow for a great time while staying safe!
Shop till You Drop
Do you love shopping? Indulge in some retail therapy during your visit by traveling to the Tanger Outlets, a shopping mall chain featuring a variety of brand names and designer outlet stores! The best part is, there’s no state sales tax!
There are 3 Tanger Outlet centers along Route 1 for you to find a great deal or to start some holiday shopping early! Tanger promotes Shop with Ease: Tanger at Your Service to emphasize the use of face coverings, social distancing efforts, cleaning, hand sanitizing stations, and contactless payment methods available.
