4th of July Fireworks at the Delaware Beaches – Your 2026 Guide from Canalside Inn

Rehoboth Beach Fireworks

Warm nights. Starry skies. The crack and boom of fireworks over the water. The Delaware coast does Independence Day right – and if you’re looking for the perfect home base to take it all in, Canalside Inn in Rehoboth Beach has you covered.

What makes this stretch of coastline so special on the 4th? Three beach towns. Three fireworks shows. All within easy reach of the Inn. Whether you stay close for Rehoboth’s big Saturday night show or make a day trip out of Lewes’ all-day street celebration, here’s everything you need to plan your long weekend.

Three Beach Towns, Three Fireworks Shows

Rehoboth Beach Fireworks – Saturday, July 5, 2026

Rehoboth keeps the party going one night past the 4th – and it’s worth the wait. The city closes Rehoboth Avenue to traffic, The Funsters take the stage at the Bandstand at 8 PM, and fireworks launch from the beach at around 9:30 PM. Visible from the entire mile-long stretch of beach and boardwalk, it’s one of the best fireworks views on the East Coast.

Pro tip: Walk or bike from Canalside Inn. Roads around the Bandstand close to vehicles starting at 6 PM, and parking fills fast. Skip the headache – enjoy the stroll instead.

Lewes Beach Fireworks – Friday, July 4, 2026 (Go Fourth Lewes)

Lewes does the 4th the old-fashioned way – and it lasts all day. It starts with kids’ games on Second Street at 9 AM, flows into the Lewes Independence Day Boat Parade down the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal at 2 PM, and builds to the crowd-favorite Doo-Dah Parade around 5 PM. Then, at dusk, the Go Fourth Lewes fireworks – privately funded by community donations and now in their 8th year – launch off Lewes Beach over the bay.

Best viewing: Anywhere along Lewes Beach from Roosevelt Inlet toward the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal gives you a clear sightline. Arrive early – spots fill up well before dusk and this event draws serious crowds.

Dewey Beach Fireworks – Friday, July 4, 2026

Dewey Beach keeps things lively. Fireworks launch from a barge in Rehoboth Bay in front of Northbeach at 125 McKinley Street at around 9:30 PM, and the whole bayside lights up. Waterfront restaurants and bars along the bay have great views – and Dewey’s energy on the 4th is hard to match anywhere on the coast.

Heads up: Dewey is packed, and parking is nearly impossible on the 4th. The DART Beach Bus and Jolly Trolley both run shuttle service from Rehoboth – use them.

A Word About Pets and Fireworks

We love your four-legged guests at Canalside Inn. That said, July 4th is genuinely hard on pets. More dogs go missing on Independence Day than any other day of the year – fireworks cause real panic, and even a dog that’s never bolted before can react differently to this kind of noise.

A few things that help:

  • Keep dogs indoors and secured during any show
  • Close windows and curtains to reduce sound and flashes
  • Run white noise or calming music in the background
  • Talk to your vet before the holiday if your dog is especially anxious

While dogs are permitted on Lewes Beach after 6:30 PM on leash, the safest choice for your pup is a quiet room at the Inn while you’re out enjoying the show.
